Welcome! The West Highland White Terrier Club of Southeast Texas (“WHWTCSET”) was formed in 1968. Our membership consists of people who show their Westies in companion and performance events such as Conformance, Obedience, Agility and Earthdog, and others who simply enjoy being owned by a Westie.
Nationally recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), our club hosts a Specialty Show each year in July in conjunction with the Houston World Series of Dog Shows and operates an active Westie Rescue program. We are located in Houston, TX, but our membership includes Westie lovers from all over the country. The WHWTCSET is an all-volunteer club whose members donate their time, money, and personal resources toward improving and benefiting the breed as well as the lives of all those who love Westies. We believe that we have a responsibility to protect the breed from exploitation, indiscriminate or irresponsible breeding, and overpopulation by encouraging spaying and/or neutering of pet quality Westies and by requiring that the serious breeders conduct themselves responsibly at all times by incorporating quality and good health in their breeding practices. |

Message from our Club President |
2024 Club officers |
Welcome! Thank you for visiting our website. We encourage you to spend some time reviewing all of our Westie resources, information, and photos. We would also like to express our gratitude to Past President for her leadership during the last two years. She has served our club with the utmost dedication and we will continue to draw upon her talents in other capacities. Thank you also to past officers and board members Since we are an all-volunteer organization, it takes a combined effort from a number of committed people to make this club work; I know we can count on all of our members this year. I am honored to serve the club as this year's President.
The WHWTCSET is the only American Kennel Club (AKC) recognized Westie Club in the Houston and Southeast Texas area. It is the goal of our club to preserve, protect, promote, and improve this pure-bred West Highland White Terrier through education, outreach, mentoring, rescue, support, and breed health research. Several of our members serve in key positions with the West Highland White Terrier Club of America and the Westie Foundation of America, Inc. Please check our club calendar for our meeting schedule. We're currently meeting virtually, and plan to schedule some in-person activities as well. We ask that you routinely check this website for meeting details. Our members support all levels of Westie ownership and participation from having a loving pet as a member of their families to AKC and other organizations' event competitions. Many of our members participate in Agility, Obedience, Conformation, Earth Dog, Canine Good Citizen, Meet the Breed, Westie Rescue, and health clinics. Additionally, each July, we conduct an AKC sanctioned Specialty Conformation show as part of the Houston World Series of Dog Shows at the NRG Center. Feel free to contact us and visit our meeting. We are dedicated to our Westies and would love to have you join us. Bebe Pinter 2024 Club President, The West Highland White Terrier Club of Southeast Texas |
